Bonjour,
Were there any flashfloods in Rishikesh area?
The flashfloods and heavy rains which happened recently took place in the valleys of Kedarnath, Gangotri and around Badrinath. These valleys are on a distance of 150KM to 350 KM from Rishikesh. Although media created a big story about Rishikesh and the high Ganga and loss of the well known Shiva Statue, the drama is not at all here and these kind of things did not happen in history either in the Rishikesh area. For the sake of clarity: Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun had no flashfloods, landslides or whatsoever. Only one day (on June the 17th) the Ganga river was very high due to what happened in the upper valleys of the Himalaya and that caused material damage. Is it safe to reach Rishikesh during monsoon?Yes it’s safe to reach our ashram! In this monsoontime the best and most safe way to come is by air or train.
Merci!!
Sara
