Bonjour,
Dear J. G.
We acknowledge receipt of your email on the subject topic.
There are no restrictions against visitors hiring a self-drive vehicle in Kenya as long as one has a valid driving license that is from a country that has a reciprocal agreement with Kenya allowing citizens of that country to use their driving license locally. This is usually for a period of the first three months.
There are however a few key challenges one needs to be aware of as follows: -
Inadequate road signage - it is quite possible for self-drive visitors to get lost as road signs in Kenya are not as many as they should be.
Manner of Driving - Kenyan drivers can be quite aggressive as opposed to the very orderly driving most visitors would be used to.
For a very new driver in Kenya, we sometimes recommend chauffer driven vehicles until one gets used to our roads,

Subject: Enquiry
Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
Is it possible to know wether it is possible/allowed to personally hire a car in Kenya for a foreign tourist in the age over 70 ?
This is a question asked by several “contributors” in the journey forum “Le Routard” of France.
I (we) would be grateful for relyable information about that point.
Thank you very much in anticipation.
Very kind regards.
