" Visa Requirements We have been notified that all foreigners are allowed 24 hour visa-free transit stops in Shanghai (longer transits allowed for some nationalities). For longer stays it will be necessary to apply for a Chinese Visa. Applying for a Chinese Visa at the Chinese Embassy in London is normally a troublefree procedure, and there is a same-day service if necessary. We advise either going to the embassy in person, or using a visa agent to obtain your visa. If you have further concerns regarding the visa, we would like to suggest you to contact Chinese Embassy directly." " At present all transit passengers must pass through immigration before resuming their journey with China Eastern. This is a government requirement and is expected to be lifted soon. Please follow the arrows on the map below to show you through Pudong Airport to resume your international journey. Click on the map for more detail. For onward domestic journeys, first check which Shanghai airport your domestic flight departs from (SHA - Shanghai Hongqiao, PVG - Shanghai Pudong). For Pudong domestic departures, follow signs on level three. For transfer from Pudong to Hongqiao, please go to the transfer counter, pick up a ticket at the transfer desk and proceed to the free transfer bus. Minimum connection time between the two airports is three hours - if you have less than this, you should take a taxi which will be quicker (cost approx £12). " " Australian and Eurozone passport holders are issued with 48 hours visa-free transit in Shanghai when flying with China Eastern. All other foreigners, including British nationals receive 24 hours visa-free transit. Please be aware that if you have arranged a stopover longer than 24 hours in Shanghai on your return, you must stop Shanghai immigration from stamping your Visa on the outbound when you have a short stop in Shanghai. Otherwise when you re-enter Shanghai on the return and want to stopover, the visa will have been used already."
