Angkor Wat se situe à l'entrée du site. Le plus grand, le plus connu, le plus majestueux des temples. On considère qu'une armée de 300 000 ouvriers et 6 000 éléphants participèrent à sa construction. Ce temple-montagne est entièrement dédié à Vishnou. Commencé au XIIe siècle, sa construction a duré 37 ans.
