The Awa Dance Festival (ˆ¢”g—x‚è, Awa Odori) is held in summer. Groups of choreographed dancers and musicians known as ren (˜A) dance through the streets, typically accompanied by the shamisen lute, taiko drums, shinobue flute and the kane bell.
