Le site de Grand Staircase-Escalante est le plus récent des National Monuments des Etats-Unis. Entre Capitol Reef et Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase étend gorges, canyons, falaises et arches sur une superficie de 6 900 km². On y trouve d’innombrables roches gravées, des ruines indiennes, le lieu étant l’un des derniers du pays à avoir été explorés.
